Life In Ancient Greece


In ancient times Greece was not a united country as it is today.It was made up of seven city-states.Greek city-states had its own laws.
Athens became the largest and most prosperous city-state,with many splendid temples,markets and open air theaters.
The city of Athens was called after Athena,the Greek goddess of wisdom.
In 480 BC a persian army attacked Athens and destroyed the temples on the Acropolis,Pericles took on the task of rebuilding the Acropolis.
In Athens the woman were like slaves.They had to work all day when the husband went out such as clean,cook dinner,wash up and mind the kids and they could not vote for a leader and they had a lot more work to do.
